Alongside the installation, the video forms another key component of the work. Designed as a seamless one-minute loop, it allows viewers to enter the work at any point without disrupting its flow.Structured around three recurring sections—RECORD, MARKER, and SCHEMA—the video examines how documentation, symbols, and systems of verification shape our perception of authenticity.Inspired by the visual language of the Nike x Off-White Dunk Low The 50-Lot 50 and an edited excerpt from Virgil Abloh's 2017 Harvard GSD lecture, the work weaves image, text, and sound into a single framework.

This work is a personal exploration of the boundary between destruction and control, examining how space itself can fracture. It stems from the idea that what is being broken is not just physical space, but the very order that defines it.Instead of letting the explosion spread chaotically, I set up an invisible boundary to contain it, forcing it to break apart in a more structured, geometric way. Using Z-depth data, I highlighted the depth of the explosion and focused on specific points to make the impact feel more precise and controlled.I also added a scanning effect on the ground to create the illusion that the explosion is interacting with its surroundings, while still maintaining an almost surreal level of restriction that wouldn’t happen in reality. Rather than just being a burst of raw energy, the explosion feels like it’s breaking down into data-like fragments, distorting and dissolving into space—giving it a unique visual identity.

Verified Absence examines how authenticity is constructed in contemporary culture. The work begins with a pair of sneakers purchased by the artist. Although the attached cable tie serves little practical function, it has become a decisive marker of authenticity within the secondary resale market. After removing the cable tie, the artist experienced an unexpected sense of uncertainty—as if the shoes, despite being genuine, would somehow require proof of their authenticity once again.
From this experience, the work asks a simple question: What defines authenticity—the object itself, or the records that surround it? Rather than treating authenticity as an inherent quality of material objects, Verified Absence considers it as something produced through systems of documentation, verification, and circulation. In doing so, the work explores how value, trust, and authenticity are continually constructed and maintained through the structures that validate them.

Process
Verified Absence consists of two interconnected elements: a single-channel video and an installation. While the video visualizes the structures of documentation and verification, the installation examines how a physical object acquires new meaning through systems of record and authentication.

The Off-White cable tie, presented as the central object, is deliberately displayed without emphasis. Although it differs little from an ordinary cable tie in either material or function, its value is transformed by the system that surrounds it. A cable tie exists to fasten objects together, yet once tightened completely, it can no longer perform its original function. In the very act of fulfilling its purpose, it simultaneously loses it. This paradox recalls Jacques Derrida's notion of the death drive: the desire to preserve inevitably carries within it the possibility of disappearance. In this context, the cable tie retained as proof of authenticity is no longer alive as a functional object; instead, it is reconstituted as a powerful marker within the realm of documentation.

The transparent acrylic box that forms the primary structure of the installation functions not merely as a pedestal but as a vessel for preservation and record. Theodor W. Adorno famously compared the museum to a mausoleum—a place where objects are preserved even as they are removed from living contexts. Echoing this idea, the installation employs hollow acrylic boxes whose empty interiors emphasize absence rather than containment. Scattered throughout the structure are ordinary cable ties, occupying the space like ghosts. Unable to acquire institutional authority or symbolic value, they linger around the Off-White cable tie, quietly exposing the mechanisms through which authenticity is assigned rather than inherently possessed.

I played around with Gaussian Splatting to blend indoor and outdoor spaces, mixing reality with the digital world. By distorting and softening textures, I wanted to create a dreamlike feeling—like stepping into another dimension. As the two spaces overlap, the physical world starts to fade, and it feels like you’re moving into something more sensory and abstract. To bring this to life, I used point clouds, noise, rendering glitches, and frame drops. Instead of seeing these digital distortions as flaws, I turned them into a dreamy, visual way to show what it’s like when boundaries start to disappear.

I explored the movement of a robotic hand, with an immaterial sphere of light blooming above it. The piece plays with how light can feel almost physical in a virtual space, creating a futuristic and surreal atmosphere.

For this piece, instead of building a 3D model, I created the robotic hand by connecting multiple 2D layers and moving each joint separately. Rather than focusing on detailed modeling, the idea was to see how flat graphics could create a sense of depth and structure through movement.

There were, of course, clear limits to creating complex forms and natural movement using only 2D layers. I would have liked to push the details of the joints and structure further, but the process made one thing pretty clear — 3D tools would make this kind of detailed work much easier.

Still, a clean and realistic 3D render wasn’t really what I was after. I was more drawn to the look of a scene from a sci-fi graphic novel — flat, slightly rough, and unreal. So I kept the whole process in 2D, using layered graphics, movement, light, and color to build a sense of space and depth.

This work was developed as the final project for 「Video Art and Expanded Forms」.It began with a simple question: How do images acquire meaning, and how do they lose it?I wanted the form itself to function as part of the work’s intention, so I used an excess of images to constantly redirect the viewer’s attention, disrupting stable narratives and resisting a single, fixed way of looking. The video incorporates GIF thumbnails from my previous works. Existing somewhere between a still image and a moving image, they occupy an ambiguous state. By layering and juxtaposing these fragments, I tried to reconstruct a condition in which images continuously drift, overlap, and slip away from fixed meanings rather than settling into one. While I think the idea of creating a kind of rupture in perception came across to some extent, the critique process ultimately left me with even more questions than answers. Why do some images stay with us, while others simply pass us by?This work was one way of exploring that question, and the different perspectives shared during the critique have given me plenty to think about moving forward.

3D VFX for the 2024 MAMA AWARDS - FAN'S CHOICE PUMP VCR

The visuals feature a surreal Hall of Fame inspired by music, with elements like a main road designed from guitar components, a trophy pedestal modeled after a turntable, floating translucent speakers, and piano keys. Each piece was carefully placed to create an otherworldly yet harmonious atmosphere.

The exhibition "Digital Subculture: Everybody can be a Creator" shows how anyone can become a creator and freely move between the real and virtual worlds. At the center is a large sphere mapped with a white and gray grid — like the transparent background in digital editing — which also works as a wormhole connecting different worlds. It represents both the space for endless creation and the exhibition itself. Smaller circles around it symbolize different layers of virtual and real worlds, hinting that anyone can jump between them through digital subculture and creative work. The poster design takes inspiration from old world maps and uses neon green — a nod to green screens often seen in digital media.
